Llechryd and District Gardening Club

Rules and Constitution

 

1.   Name

 

The club shall be known as Llechryd and District Gardening Club.

 

2.   Aim

 

The aim of the club shall be to promote the interest of gardening and the growing of fruit, vegetables and flowers. Also to provide a focal point where local people may meet and talk with the view of exchanging ideas on gardening.

 

3.   Membership

 

Membership of the club shall be open to all who abide by the rules of the club.

 

4.   Administration

 

4.1   The club shall be administered by a committee as follows: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Programme Secretary. These are Executive Members. There shall be at least 4 and no more than 6 other committee members.

 

4.2   The Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the members.

 

4.3   Executive members shall hold their post for one year.

 

4.4   No executive member shall serve for more than three consecutive years, except where there are no other candidates and previous tenure is satisfactory.

 

4.5   The committee shall meet quarterly at a date arranged by the Chair.

 

4.6   For a meeting of the committee to be valid at least TWO executive members and THREE committee members must be present to give a quorum of FIVE members.

 

5.   Subscription

 

5.1   The annual subscription and visitor fee shall be set by the committee and agreed at the AGM by the members present.

5.2   A members’ annual subscription is due on April 1st or immediately following the Annual General Meeting whichever is later. Membership from 1st October to the next April AGM shall be at half the annual subscription.


5.3   A member being more than three months in arrears in payment of the annual subscription shall be deemed no longer to be a member of the club. A person wishing to re-join must pay the annual subscription for that year.​

6.   Benefits

 

Any discounted benefit arranged by the committee shall be for members of the club only and shall be provided upon the production of a current membership card.
 

7.   Show

 

Should a horticultural show be considered in the future it will be part of the annual programme.

 

8.   Ownership

 

Llechryd & District Gardening Club is owned by current paid up members. In the event the club should disband any liabilities owed by the club would be shared equally by such members and any assets owned by the club on disbanding would be distributed to local charities, suggested by the committee, and agreed by such members at an Emergency General Meeting.

 

9.   Alteration to these rules

 

A member wishing to alter, add to, or subtract from these rules may call an extraordinary meeting for the purpose of doing so. A proposal for this must have the backing of at least five other members and the proposal must be made, in writing, to the Chair so that notice of the extraordinary meeting may be posted to other members.

 

This revised constitution was presented to members at an Extraordinary General Meeting on

12 April 2023 at Boncath Village Hall and unanimously approved by the members present.
